New Jersey Devils Calgary reviews
Hawks vs Devils
I drove into The Rock in Newark which only took me about an hour from Basking Ridge. It was a pretty straight shot and very easy to find. Newark did not look like a very nice place as I was driving in so I just kept driving to get as close to the arena as I could (I didn’t want to have to walk far and I heard it was not the best of places either). I found $30 parking right next to the arena. After going through their security check, I went up the escalator and saw the greatest hockey jersey display ever! I am so jealous!!!
After pregame skate, it was time to grab food on my way to my seat. There are tons of places to eat at the Rock. I ended up at Legends. This place was a mess. It was only after placing my order did I realize what a disaster they were or I would have gone elsewhere!!! There were only a handful of people standing in line and I soon found out that people were placing their orders and not getting what they ordered (it is a very simple menu – 3 different burgers, 1 hot dog, chips, onion rings and many 1 or 2 other things). Silly me had to complicate things by asking for a cheeseburger with nothing on it (no bun, nothing but burger and cheese). Of course, that is not what I got. Don’t know what makes me think I should be special. J The chips were very good.
I sat in Section 14, Row 15, Seat 18 for the Blackhawks vs the Devils (12.9.14). The seats were good and you had a great view of the ice. I forgot how much I dislike sitting that low with the netting in the way. I usually sit in the Garden in the 200s or 400s because I like the atmosphere up there but you are also above the netting. I guess when you watch hockey on tv every night, it is just a bit of a distraction. The game itself was great! The Hawks won in a shootout (I guess if you are a Devils fan you would disagree but I love the Hawks and there is nothing like seeing Kaner live!!) I rushed out of the arena right after the game was over and was out of the parking lot fairly fast so traffic was not too bad (I just followed what the police, cars ahead of me and GSP told me to do to get back to the highway). I made it back to my hotel before 10:30p. All and all a pretty good night!!!
