Alan Doyle Calgary reviews
JB does St. Augustine 8/7/09
Absolutely Phenominal! Wow! We drove up from Palm Beach because this show skipped South Florida. The St. Augustine Amphiteatre provided an intimate venue for this incredible performance. A great mix of tunes from his extensive repertoire was showcased. Starting off the show with "I'm Alive" was completely unexpected. Surprisingly, we heard "I'll do Anything", "Shape of a Heart", and "For a Dancer" in the first set. The first set ended with "Take it easy", prompting the aging Baby Boomers to rise from their seats. The second set began with the audience really getting into the medley of "Jamaica say you will" / "Doctor my eyes" / "About my Imagination". This set the stage for the exciting fireworks that continued throughout the night. "Lives in the balance", "Going down to Cuba", Just Say Yeah", and "The Pretender," with the crowd rushing the stage. The double encore was a delight, featuring "I am a Patriot" with a tease of the Isley Brothers' "It's your thing". The highlight was when he sat back down at the piano and played "The Load out" and "Stay"! It was indeed a perfect ending to an unforgettable evening. Thank you Alan Doyle.
